Toyota Prius speaker upgrade

The Prius is quiet on the road, which makes thin factory speakers easy to notice. Toyota changed sizes between generations: 2010 to 2015 cars take 6x9s in the front doors, the other years through 2022 use 6.5-inch class speakers, and 2023 and newer cars still need a check at the shop. We have verified sizes for 4 of 5 year ranges or trims in our table; anything not verified says "Confirm fit at the shop".

  • 2023–2026: Factory JBL premium sound can wire differently; we check your trim before you buy.
  • 2016–2022 · One, Two, Three (6.1-inch screen): If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-8264HG (double DIN) or 99-8264HG (single DIN).
  • 2010–2015: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-8226B (double-DIN) or 99-8226B (single-DIN with pocket).
  • 2004–2009: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-8240B (double-DIN) or 99-8240B / 99-8213 (single-DIN).

If the new speaker is a different size or deeper than the factory one, it can need an adapter bracket. We check with your car in front of us before we start.

What size speakers fit the Toyota Prius?

It depends on the year. Some we have verified: 2016–2022 (Four, Four Touring): 6.5" or 6-3/4" in the front doors, 6.5" or 6-3/4" in the rear doors; 2016–2022 (One, Two, Three (6.1-inch screen)): 6.5" or 6-3/4" in the front doors, 6.5" or 6-3/4" in the rear doors; 2010–2015: 6.5" or 6-3/4" in the rear doors, 6x9" in the front doors. Any other spot or year: confirm fit at the shop.

Do I need a new radio or an amp to upgrade the speakers?

Not always. New speakers can run off the factory radio. Some factory premium systems use an amp that needs an interface; we check your trim before you buy.
