Ford Expedition speaker upgrade

An Expedition is a lot of cabin to fill. Expeditions through 2017 use 6x8 door speakers, and 2018 and newer trucks take 6x9s in the front doors. We have verified sizes for 5 of 5 year ranges or trims in our table; anything not verified says "Confirm fit at the shop".

Install notes

  • 2007–2014: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-5812 (ISO DDIN); single-DIN 99-5815.
  • 2003–2006: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-5026 (without NAV); with factory NAV: 95-5028.
  • 1997–2002: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-5818 (ISO DDIN; major sub-dash trimming); single-DIN 99-5027/99-5802; 1997-1998 shaft/DIN 99-5801.

If the new speaker is a different size or deeper than the factory one, it can need an adapter bracket. We check with your car in front of us before we start.

What size speakers fit the Ford Expedition?

It depends on the year. Some we have verified: 2018–2026: 6x9" in the front doors, 3.5" in the center dash; 2015–2017: 6x8" in the front doors, 3.5" in the center dash, 6x8" in the rear doors; 2007–2014: 6x8" in the front doors, 6x8" in the rear doors. Any other spot or year: confirm fit at the shop.

Do I need a new radio or an amp to upgrade the speakers?

Not always. New speakers can run off the factory radio. Some factory premium systems use an amp that needs an interface; we check your trim before you buy.
