Lexus IS speaker upgrade

The IS is a sporty sedan, and better speakers suit it. Through 2020, every IS in our table uses 6.5-inch front door speakers; the 2021 and newer cars still need a check at the shop. We have verified sizes for 3 of 4 year ranges or trims in our table; anything not verified says "Confirm fit at the shop".

Install notes

  • 2006–2013 · without factory navigation: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 99-8163 TurboTouch kit (single/double-DIN) with touchscreen climate-control replacement; does not retain factory amp.
  • 2001–2005: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 99-8151 (single/double-DIN, pocket for single).

If the new speaker is a different size or deeper than the factory one, it can need an adapter bracket. We check with your car in front of us before we start.

What size speakers fit the Lexus IS?

It depends on the year. Some we have verified: 2014–2020: 6.5" in the front doors, 6.5" in the rear deck; 2006–2013 (with factory navigation): 6.5" in the front doors, 6.5" in the rear deck; 2006–2013 (without factory navigation): 6.5" in the front doors, 6.5" in the rear deck. Any other spot or year: confirm fit at the shop.

Do I need a new radio or an amp to upgrade the speakers?

Not always. New speakers can run off the factory radio. Some factory premium systems use an amp that needs an interface; we check your trim before you buy.
