GMC Canyon speaker upgrade

The Canyon works hard and drives long, so good speakers pay off. The first generation uses 6.5-inch front door speakers, and from 2015 on the front doors take 6x9s and the rear doors 6.5-inch speakers. We have verified sizes for 4 of 4 year ranges or trims in our table; anything not verified says "Confirm fit at the shop".

Install notes

  • 2015–2020: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 95-3016G double-DIN lists Canyon 2015-2020; sub-dash modification required.
  • 2004–2012: If you are also swapping the radio: Metra 99-2011 (single or double DIN) lists Canyon 2004-2012.

If the new speaker is a different size or deeper than the factory one, it can need an adapter bracket. We check with your car in front of us before we start.

What size speakers fit the GMC Canyon?

It depends on the year. Some we have verified: 2023–2026: 6x9" in the front doors, 3.5" in the center dash, 6.5" in the rear doors; 2021–2022: 6x9" in the front doors, 3.5" in the center dash, 6.5" in the rear doors; 2015–2020: 6x9" in the front doors, 3.5" in the center dash, 6.5" in the rear doors. Any other spot or year: confirm fit at the shop.

Do I need a new radio or an amp to upgrade the speakers?

Not always. New speakers can run off the factory radio. Some factory premium systems use an amp that needs an interface; we check your trim before you buy.
