Why the recommend is 3M IR Ceramic
3M has been a film house for a long time. They were early on nano ceramic. The line people mean when they say crystal is 3M Crystalline. The heat film we quote on Teslas is 3M IR Ceramic. High performance, hand-cut on a glass board, then applied. We are set up on that film. The tinters already know how it lays on a 3, a Y, a Y L, an S, an X, and a Cybertruck.
Solar Ceramic is the other published number. If you want this bay, you are buying 3M IR Ceramic or Solar Ceramic.
How the install actually goes
Same method on every Tesla, whichever ceramic you pick from our rack. Film is cut on a glass board, then applied. We do not cut on your glass. We do not run a plotter pattern from a database and trim it short so it clears the gasket. Micro edge means the film sits to the gasket. A 3 or S doors-and-back is a 2–3 hour install. An X takes more time because of the wings. Two fronts are a shorter job, and they are priced — they are not Get a Quote. You book 10:00 AM or 12:00 PM.
Ceramic versus dyed — the part people skip
The argument that matters on a Tesla is ceramic versus dyed. Dyed film fades. Metal stacks can argue with cameras and Autopilot. Ceramic is non-metal. That is why Tesla owners pick ceramic. We do not invent an IR percent to win a chart. We walk a sample on the glass in Carson.
