Genuine 3M ceramic film, cut by hand on a glass board and fitted to a micro edge that sits right to the gasket. One address for 20+ years, and Alex is the 3M certified tinter who does the glass.
Rivian · privacy and heat · Los Angeles
Everything below happens at 22025 S Avalon Blvd. The film is cut here, fitted here, and squeegeed here, and the person who quoted the car is in the building while it is on the rack.
Four doors, the rear quarters, and the back glass done as one job so the shade matches all the way around. This is what most people come in for, and it is quoted as a single number.
The front side windows go on at 70% VLT, which is what California allows. You still get the heat rejection of ceramic film without a shade that writes you a ticket.
Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck. Big single-piece door glass and the long roof are where a rushed job shows, so those pieces get the most patience.
The one panel amateurs ruin. The film is cut on a glass board first, then heat-shrunk and laid in, so no blade ever goes near the defroster lines.
The banner along the top of the windshield, kept inside what California permits. Quoted with the rest of the car, not sold as a menu item.
Glass roofs on EVs and German cars cook a cabin in Long Beach sun. Ceramic film on the roof is the cheapest way to make the air conditioning stop fighting it.
You do not have to do the whole car. Plenty of people start with the rear glass and the back doors and come back for the fronts later.
Purple, bubbled, peeling film comes off before anything new goes on. Removal is quoted with the job once we see how old the film is and how it was applied.
Silverados, F-150s, Tacomas, Broncos, Wranglers, and vans. Tall flat glass is easy to get wrong on the edge, which is exactly where hand-cutting pays for itself.
Four films cover almost every car that comes through: Solar, Solar Ceramic, 3M Ceramic IR, and 3M Color Stable. Two of them are published specials. The two 3M films are quoted, because the price moves with the glass.
Full car, installed: four doors plus the back glass, hand-cut micro edge. Starting price, because a coupe and a three-row SUV are not the same amount of glass.
See the current specialsSame coverage, ceramic film. This is the one to take if the car sits outside all day. Starting price, installed, four doors plus the back glass.
See the current specialsGenuine 3M, quoted only, with no published number at all. Ceramic IR is the top-tier film; Color Stable stays true in colour and does not interfere with electronics. Bring the year, make, and model.
Solar at $249 and Solar Ceramic at $329 are the only published prices on this page, both installed and both starting points. Everything else — 3M film, Teslas, glass roofs, removal of somebody else's old film — is quoted on the vehicle. A payment plan is available: how the payment plan works.
Most shops type your year and model into a plotter and let the machine cut the film from a pattern database. Those patterns are drawn a hair short on purpose, so the film clears the gasket without anyone having to fit it. It looks fine in the lot. A season later it reads as a thin line of light along every edge, and that line only gets wider as the film shrinks.
We cut every piece by hand on a glass board, then fit it to your glass with a micro edge that sits right up to the gasket. Nothing is ever cut on the vehicle. Putting a blade against a customer's glass scratches it, and on the back window it is how defroster lines get killed. That is the amateur way to work and it is not how this bay runs.
Alex is the 3M certified tinter here, 15+ years on high-end, luxury, and EV glass. Meet the crew on the About page.
There is a heat demonstration on the counter — a lamp, a panel of ceramic film, and your own hand. Thirty seconds of that explains the difference between Solar and ceramic better than any spec sheet. No appointment needed to come see it.
California sets the front side windows at 70% VLT, which means they have to let at least 70% of light through. The windshield can only be tinted along a strip at the top. The rear side windows and the back glass have no VLT limit at all, so that is where you can go as dark as you like.
So the honest version of a dark-front request is this: we install the fronts to the legal limit by default, and we will not sell you a shade that gets you pulled over. Ceramic film is where the heat rejection comes from anyway, not the darkness — a 70% ceramic front rejects far more heat than a cheap dark dyed film ever did.
Window film is all this part of the bay does, on cars and on trucks. If a shop is happy to sell you a 20% front, that tells you what the rest of their work is like.
A real Audio MotorSports job, filmed in the Carson bay. Six more below — the full set is on Gallery.
Pick the make and see what usually gets asked for. Then call or text with the year and the trim — on glass, the trim is what tells us whether there is a panoramic roof and how big the door glass is.
Collective shop experience across tint, stereo, security, and bagger builds — not a count of individual installers. Same bay, same crew, nothing subcontracted out.

No. Most shops feed the year and model into a plotter, which cuts from a pattern database and trims the film short so it clears the gasket without being fitted. That shows up as a hairline of light along the edges within a season. We cut every piece by hand on a glass board and fit it with a micro edge that sits right to the gasket. Nothing is ever cut on your vehicle.
The front side windows have to let at least 70% of light through, so the fronts go on at 70% VLT. The windshield can only be tinted along a strip at the top. The rear side windows and the back glass have no VLT limit, so those can go as dark as you want. We install the fronts to the legal limit by default and will walk through the rear glass with you at the counter.
Two. A full car in Solar starts at $249 and a full car in Solar Ceramic starts at $329, both installed, both covering the four doors and the back glass. 3M Ceramic IR and 3M Color Stable are quoted only. Call (310) 513-8800 or text us with the year, make, and model. A payment plan is available.
Most full cars run two to three hours, and same-day is realistic for walk-ins who arrive before 4. Teslas, glass roofs, and cars that need old film removed first are booked with more time on the clock.
Ceramic film is non-metallic, so it does not interfere with GPS, keyless entry, tire-pressure sensors, or phone signal. The defroster lines stay intact because the film is cut on a glass board and never on your glass, so no blade goes near them.
