SUVs and tailgate vehicles — the rear camera wire is fished through the tailgate boot, the rubber conduit between the body and the gate, so the harness flexes with the door and stays protected and hidden. This adds one to two hours over a sedan depending on the vehicle, and it is the difference between a concealed install and a wire you can see every time you open the hatch.
European and luxury vehicles — many have no usable switched accessory circuit in the normal places. Power has to be sourced from elsewhere, typically behind the rear-view mirror assembly or from the rain sensor feed, and configured so the camera runs correctly without disturbing the vehicle’s electronics. This is where most shops either refuse the job or do damage.
