Can a thief just pull the fuse and shut the alarm off?
Not when it is installed properly. The module is hidden away from the fuse panel, the siren has its own feed, and the starter interrupt stays in place even if power is cut to the dash. That hidden wiring is the reason to have it done at a shop that does this every day.
