Dash Cameras

Dash Cameras

Hardwired front and rear, wire hidden, recording even when you are parked.

Payment Plan available

You know how people drive here. The brake-check, the lane change into your door, the guy who backs into you in a lot and drives off. Without footage it is your word against theirs, and that is a coin flip with your insurance rate riding on it. With footage it is not a conversation. It is a file.

Anybody can suction a camera to the glass and run the cord to the cigarette lighter. Then the wire hangs across your dash, the socket you needed is gone, and the camera stops recording the second you switch the car off — which is exactly when most parking lot damage happens.

We hardwire. Camera at the top of the windshield behind the mirror, where it sees the road and you never see it. Cable up into the headliner, down the A-pillar behind the trim, along the kick panel, into the fuse box on a properly fused circuit with a factory ground. Nothing visible in your cabin, nothing plugged into anything you wanted to use.

Rear cameras are where the labor is. The cable runs the whole length of the vehicle behind trim, then passes through the rubber boot in the tailgate so it flexes every time the door opens and still works in three years. Shops that do not want to do that run it outside the boot, and it chafes through. On SUVs, trucks and hatchbacks that rear run is most of the job.

Parking mode: hardwired means the camera keeps watching when the car is off. We set a low-voltage cutoff so it stops well before your battery is at risk.

On your phone: 4G LTE cameras stream live from anywhere and notify you the moment something hits the car. If you already run a Compustar alarm or remote start with us, the Drone Xceed drops into the same app — alarm, remote start, tracking and cameras in one place instead of four. We also install mirror-replacement systems that put the rear view where your rearview mirror was.

Brands: Compustar Drone Xceed, Stinger, Thinkware, Momento, factory premium system, Wolfbox.

Come see them running on the display and we will quote the install on your vehicle. Ask for Nick.

Questions

Quick answers

Why hardwire instead of the cigarette lighter?

A suction camera and a cord to the lighter hangs across your dash, takes the socket, and stops recording the second you switch the car off — which is exactly when most parking lot damage happens. We hardwire behind the mirror, through the headliner and A-pillar, into the fuse box. Nothing visible in the cabin.

Does parking mode drain the battery?

Hardwired means the camera keeps watching when the car is off. We set a low-voltage cutoff so it stops well before your battery is at risk.

Questions

From the shop

Viper or Compustar — which do I need?

We install both and pick by the car. Compustar is the usual choice on Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler, where a copied unlock can beat a siren, because the ignition kill stays on when you walk away. Viper is the usual choice on Ford, GMC, and fleet vehicles, with an ignition kill you turn on. Text Nick the year, make, and model and he will point you to the right one.

Why are Jeeps, Kias, and Hondas stolen so often?

Those cars show up on theft lists in Los Angeles, Long Beach, the South Bay, and Orange County because the attack is specific. A relay or a copied fob signal can start some of them without breaking a window. A siren does not stop that. An ignition kill, placed in the factory loom, does. Toyota, Kia, and Honda get the same conversation as Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler.

What is an ignition kill?

An ignition kill interrupts the starter so the car does not crank unless your remote is present. The siren still makes noise. The kill is the part that keeps the car in the spot. We hide the module so it is not sitting under the dash where someone can find it in seconds.

Can remote start work on push-to-start cars?

Yes, on most push-to-start cars. Many late models need a bypass module so the factory immobilizer stays happy, and we say that before we book the bay. Slots are 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Text Nick the year, make, and model to confirm your car.

Do you install on European cars?

Generally no, except older models. Most European cars need modules we do not stock, and we would rather say so before you drive over. Text Nick the year, make, and model if yours is an older car and he will tell you if the bay can take it.

Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes. A Payment Plan is available. Open the Payment Plan page to apply, or text Nick and he will send the link. Booking a slot does not take a deposit.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Book a slot or text Nick. Same-day is possible if you arrive at 9:30 opening, Monday through Saturday. Sunday the shop is closed.

Can I drop my car off overnight?

Yes, Tuesday through Thursday. Drop your car at close, by 6 PM, and pick it up the next day. We photograph your car at check-in so you see its condition before we touch it. Text Nick to reserve an overnight spot.
